  1. What is all that stuff outside of your non registered tfsa and rrsp. Seems like quite a large amount of portfolio anyways. Just wondering. 💱💲

  2. I had been investing for many years ow, I started investing shortly before the 2008 stock crash. When I first start investing, I began investing in my non-registered portfolio. Currently, my non-registered portfolio value is of $122,273.26.

  5. that's a lot of holdings in your TFSA....do you hold like 1 or 2 shares of each? would that be costly to trade? congrats on the NW increase!

  6. Thanks :)

Since I already disclose a lot of info on my blog, I prefer not to provide the amount of shares for each investment I own. However, its much more than 1 or 2 shares per investment. I usually invest by block of 1k, 2k, sometimes a bit more, and sometimes a bit less. I had bough shares for an amount of $500 a couple of times. My whole portfolio is a mix of small and medium amount of money that I invested overtime since 2008 for what concern stocks.

Before, I used to display the amount for each and single investments I own, but it took me forever to publish portfolio updates on my blog and for the past couple portfolio updates, I only put an amount per portfolio.

You can access to my all of my past portfolio updates here:
    http://www.myfirst50000.com/search/label/Investment%20portfolio

The last time that I put all of the amount for each and single investments appear to be back on December 31, 2020:
    http://www.myfirst50000.com/2020/12/my-investment-portfolio-on-date-of_31.html

You can take a look there to see that I don't buy only one or 2 shares per investment. I have nothing against if you begin a portfolio, but I prefer to invest by pieces of $500, 1k, 2k or a bit higher per investment when ever I can afford to do so.

  7. thanks so much Sunny. It's great to see your progress.
I struggle between holding too many different shares versus more with just a fewer number. Sometimes you don't get enough of a dividend to drip or I feel I am too diversified.

  8. :-)

    I understand your problem.

No matter how much you invest each times, you need to stay diversify in different sectors and in different companies, its been a key to my success on the learn run. I had invested different amount, usually between $500 to $2,000 in different stocks for close to 15 years now, and today I am close to the 300k. You can do the same, and even exceed me. Personally, I like to investment in different companies. On the stock market, you never know what can happen, its better to be diversify.

I didn't build my portfolio in one day, you can do small investments, of $500 to 2k when you have the chance. While saving your money, keep an eyes on the market and watch closely the stock that you want to invest in, search on it. See what bloggers say about it, etc. That way, you'll have a better sense of the stock you want. You can also write down a list of stocks you want to invest and invest in those stocks overtime.

I think what I am trying to say is that your portfolio won't be build overnight, but over time. Enjoy that time. Before, I always have investment dreams, but now that my portfolio is almost perfection, I don't have really a list of stocks that I want to invest in or investment dreams.

Take time to observe, to feel your investments, no need to rush anything. You can invest a bit right now on stocks, but right now, stocks are not cheap, the TSX is at its highest. Now is time to save money, and make your big moves in quality asset later on when price will drop. I invest in many stocks that I still hold today following the 2008 stock crash. Its partly why I now have close to $300k despite only investing small investments. Timing is important, as well as diversification.

I hope all this will help you.
