Surprise, surprise! The TSX closed this past Friday's session at a very strong 21,552.35 points. I knew I had the obligation to update my investment portfolio. This time around, I wasn't missing much to reach my first $400,000 net worth. When I updated my portfolio, my rent money was unfortunately gone and no longer formed my chequing account. But even then, it wouldn't have been enough, since my rent is now at $750.
I had been in New Brunswick since mid-December. I am planning to go back to Montreal sometime this month. My old folks still have the project to sell the house once they find an apartment - which hasn't happened yet - but no matter what, I want to bring stuff I still have in New Brunswick back with me to Montreal. It's mostly books, picture books, all heavy stuff. I have a lot less than what I used to have left in New Brunswick, but this time around, I think I may be able to bring back with me almost everything that I have left here, with the exception of some winter gear that I plan to leave here.
Since the beginning of the year, my investment portfolio has gained over $19,000. My margin debt is now at $7,487.50. My plan is to pay it off by the month of June. We'll see how it goes. At 7k, my margin debt is quite low, but at this point, it is so low that it's just worth it to go all the way and pay it all in full. If I cannot make it for a reason or another, I wouldn't mind. I don't remember the last time my margin debt was that low.
My dividend income now exceeds the equivalent of $902 per month, for the portion coming from my non-registered and TFSA portfolio. My numbers are strong; I just wish they will remain that way.
