My net worth is now at its highest value EVER: $432,208.43

The TSX closed today at a very nice 23,110.81 points, leaving my portfolio higher than this past Friday. Currently, I don't have much in terms of savings after paying my bills and rent, but I knew my numbers were going to be great. I don't exactly know why the TSX decided to close over 23,000 points today, but trust me when I say, I am enjoying the moment.

Today, my non-registered portfolio closed at $145,071.04, my US portfolio at $5,944.81 USD, my RRSP stocks-only portfolio at $70,278.78, and my TFSA portfolio at $149,355.32. I mentioned it before, but it's now super official: the value of my TFSA portfolio is exceeding the value of my non-registered portfolio. In terms of dividend earnings, it's close to being 50-50, but I earned about $1k more in dividends in my non-registered portfolio. I am earning the equivalent of a bit more than $942 per month in dividends from my TFSA and non-registered portfolios.

I am currently spending a few last days in New Brunswick before going back to Montreal. The next time I will be in New Brunswick, it will be October, right on time for the hunting season. Luckily, I can work remotely. The weather has been very hot this past weekend. This is where I have been to escape the heat:

Isn't this the cutest little camp you have ever seen? This is one of the original camps that was built around the lake. It's difficult to say how old it is, but it has certainly been very well maintained over the years.

I updated my investment portfolio this past Friday because I thought I was on a higher note, somewhere in the 430k net worth range, but I wasn't exactly there. I closed this past Friday with $433,853.79 in investments and a net worth of $427,491.33. I started 2024 with a net worth of $379,670.38. I may have a chance to close 2024 with a 450k net worth, and maybe even a bit higher. I wasn't expecting the 430k net worth to come so soon, but it actually happened today. My net worth closed today's session at a very nice $432,208.43. So far, 2024 has been a great year; I have experienced a lot of growth. It's impossible to say if 2025 will be as good, but I would like to hit 500k, and after that, anything extra will be candy money. Not that I am looking forward to retiring on a 500k net worth, but it seems to me that once 500k is reached, the toughest part of the journey will be over.

Lately, I have been looking at my portfolio and thinking that among all the stocks I hold – and I hold many of them – TMX Group Inc. (X) is among the easiest to hold. I have experienced a lot of growth with that stock. TMX is not a stock that I usually chat about on my blog, but it certainly deserves a mention. I am all about simple and easy stocks to hold for the long run. Another stock that is not well enough considered, in my opinion, is CGI Group Inc. (GIB.A). Its overall chart is absolute perfection and, best of all, for what appears to be the first time ever, CGI Group is about to pay a dividend!

My margin debt is currently over 6k, but soon enough, it could be a lot lower. One stock that I have held in my TFSA portfolio for a very long time, Park Lawn Corporation (PLC), wants to exit the TSX and become private. I found that stock using Stockopedia. PLC has been in my TFSA portfolio since July 2016! For strictly monetary reasons, I no longer use Stockopedia, but I adored using that tool to find stocks to invest in. I particularly like finding gems that no one talks about. Sincerely, have you ever read about Park Lawn Corporation (PLC) other than here?!!! Anyway, once PLC becomes private, I will have some cash available, which will go directly to pay down my margin debt.

My goal is to pay off my margin debt by the end of this year. It's going to be quite rough, but I think I can manage. I will be turning 44 on August 27, and my secret wish is to have a $440,000 net worth by then. For more fun, follow me on Twitter/X.
