Nothing new in New Brunswick, just a few remarks

For the past couple of days, the weather had been great in New Brunswick. I managed to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I have a good step counter on my Samsung smartphone that helps to keep track of my progress. I had received my federal tax refund, but I didn't receive anything from the provincial yet. They can take all the time they need, as soon as I get that $500 extra one-time refundable tax credit, I will be happy. For now, the money will just remain in my savings for now. I don't feel comfortable doing any RRSP contribution at the present time.

I usually contribute to my RRSP only at the end of the year. I prefer to do so for common-sense reasons. I would feel bad having contributed thousands of dollars over my RRSP before the end of the year and experiencing a layoff or something before the end of the year. I don't have too much in savings, so it would be heartbroken to deal with something like it while I had invested a bunch of money in my RRSP. RRSP sucks so much that you cannot withdraw money from it without facing any penalties. Everything is fine at work, I even recently got a little salary raised, but I prefer to play on the safe side. I don't take things for granted, even for one second.

The TSX closed today behind the so beautiful 22,000 points, at 21,788.60 points, leaving my non-registered closing the say at $146,682.70, my US portfolio at $5,111.74, my RRSP portfolio - stocks only - at $67,698.84 and my TFSA portfolio at $130 491,85. Fact that the Bitcoin value is down is not helping my TFSA portfolio. I began to have a little sum of money coming from my dividend distribution available to invest in my TFSA. But I didn't set myself on anything else.

A couple of years ago, I used to have Premium Brands Holdings (PBH) in my investment portfolio. I no longer hold to some PBH stocks, and I am glad I don't because it seems like these days, the value of Premium Brands Holdings (PBH) just keeps going on since probably October 2021. And of top of that, Premium Brands Holdings (PBH) doesn't appear on any Stockopedia screens. When a stock is from any Stockopedia's screen, that's actually a good indicator that you may want to simply ignore that stock from the time being. A good Canadian quality stock will always appear on a couple of screens. If you would like to see it by yourself, you can subscribe to Stockopedia by using my referral link right here. By using my referral link, you'll qualify for a 2-week FREE trial and 10% lifetime discount for as long as you decided to subscribe.

It's one thing to buy a stock at a bargain price, but its another thing to buy a stock who seems to be just experiencing a steady and long decline. At the end of the day, you don't need to be a financial expert to figure things out. You can certainly go a long way strictly with good common sense - like the one owned by New Brunswickers - and a little bit of help from Stockopedia.

Thank you for the beautiful month of March, TSX!

It's hard to believe but we are already in the month of April and spring is in the air! The winter had been quite rough in new Brunswick. It's been a very cold winter, we barely have no wood left to burn, and we didn't have much to start the winter with. I had been freezing my ass around here all winter long, and it hasn't been fun. Trying to heat an entire home - at least in New Brunswick - with only electricity is just really uncomfortable. Despite being a New Brunswicker born and raise, I am extra sensitive to the cold weather. When it's in the -20 outside, it's like I am feeling the cold in my whole body when I take a look outside...

This being said, I really don't mind when it freezes at night. I actually prefer when it's cold at night. I don't like to have the heat open during nighttime, it made me feel like I am suffocated. I hope my old folks will get organized better next year if not, I will definitively not be spending another long winter here in New Brunswick with no wood, and just electricity heating. Here in New Brunswick, we experimented with some restrictions because of Covid during the winter, like so many other places, but it made it even more difficult because the only available activities were basically shoveling snow, and walking outside when the weather allow it, and shopping at Walmart (my favorite winter activity lol). We also went to the library a couple of times to borrow some books. But it was basically it. Always being home without real activities was sometimes boring. I think the entire world - including me - is in deep need of activities and going out. For that reason, fact that Live Nation Entertainment was among Brian Madden's top picks during his last appearance on BNN just makes a lot of sense to me.

When I will be hitting back to Montreal, I will be incredibly happy. My major problem is that while living with my old folks I cannot do much, because I am scared of getting Covid and contaminating them. I am even scared of getting a haircut. I am planning to go back to Montreal at the end of spring, at the end of May, once I will be done picking up all the ferns that I possibly can. After and only after what, my job here will be done and completed. Another thing I want to do before I leave is to tidy up.

I am a bit of a hoarder but when I decide it's time to sort and tidy my belongings, I do so without any problems. However, it required a lot of time and it's kind of a heavy process each time. I still have things to look over here in New Brunswick. I actually had found a drawer full of old floppy disks that I have to check out, a bag full of power cords that I am just not sure what they are needed for, those kinds of random stuff... When I found those floppy disks I just cannot help myself, I taught I was done with the floppy disks cleaning because I managed to do all of it - but that was only for what I had in Montreal...

When it comes to clothes and shoes, I am quite good in that field, I just have what I need. However, when it comes to beauty and hair products - and even cleaning products - I have to be careful because I have a tendency to accumulate too many products. Confession of a sweet hoarder. However, be assured that I had been quite a good girl for the past couple of months. I concentrated mainly on saving up some money, my investment portfolio, and that help me a lot.

That being now confessed, a few days ago, on March 29, while noticing that my TFSA portfolio was somewhere in the $134,000, I knew I was up for another record net worth. So I quickly updated my investment portfolio just to find out that my total in assets had closed the same day at $405,658.35, and my net worth at $358,941.11. The month of March 2022 had been quite amazing for my finances. I began the month with a 347,57353 net worth, and I closed it within $358,000, which represents an increase of +$10,000 in one single month.

This past Friday session, my non-registered portfolio closed at $146,889.68, my US portfolio at $5,141.35 US, my RRSP portfolio - stocks only - at $67,402.69, andmy TFSA portfolio at $132,769.65.

We'll see what the month of April will be made of.

A possible option for my 2022 RRSP contribution: Quebec's Fondaction

The TSX closed this Monday session on a solid 21,977.83 points. Today, my overall stock-only portfolio gained only +0,037%, but I am willing to take any gain. I am standing proud and high on my highest value ever which is very close to the $360,000. At this point of the journey, I am still looking around for new stocks to invest in because that's my thing, but I am not looking to invest massively in one stock in particularly. And these days, I never do so. I can invest as little as one stock per new investment if I want to, thanks to National Bank Direct Brokerage's $0 commission. I am just doing so well that I don't want to mess it up. Obviously I won't, but I prefer to stay on the save side of things. I don't want to be over-exposed to anything that could hurt my beautiful results. Its just the way I am feeling right now. Just like if that almost $360,000 net worth wouldn't be here to stay too long...

We never know.

Currently, I am thinking about getting rid - or majority sell - my LifeWorks Inc. (LWRK) stock that I hold inside my TFSA portfolio.

My non-registered portfolio closed the session at $147,766,10, my US portfolio at $5,141.38 US, my RRSP stock only portfolio at $66 614,14 and my TFSA portfolio at 133 086,46.  Things are looking quite good on there. My investment portfolio had been growing like crazy and I am enjoying it. The total asset that I own over National Bank Direct Brokerage is now exceeding $350,000. Bitcoins and Ethereum are both making some interesting gain.

At a point during the day, Bitcoin was in the $60,000 CAN. Trust me when I say, I just cannot wait to sell at my profits my Bitcoin Fund The Class A units (QBTC) and Purpose Bitcoin ETF CAD ETF non-currency hedged units (BTCC.B) units. I think we are going in the good direction to see that happen in a couple of weeks. When it comes to 3iQ CoinShares Ether ETF (ETHQ), I only have a small investment in it, but I really like Ethereum and I would like to keep that investment inside my TFSA portfolio.

I have a few dollars available inside my TFSA and RRSP portfolio that are just laying there doing nothing. While checking out on my options, I found out that Brian Madden, chief investment officer at First Avenue Investment Counsel was from today BNN's Market Call. Here's Brian Madden opinion on what I considered being one of my favorite stock, not to say my favorite stock: Toromont Industries Ltd (TIH). I like TIH right from the start. This stock is so strong, its one of my many stocks that help me to turn into a rich girl who can buy her neighbourg home if she wants do. Its actually selling for $180,000, but I am not interested in buying it. I just don't consider myself as being "rich" enough to be a homeowner. Also today, Brian Madden talked about Open Text, which I own a few stocks. I find his opinion to be interesting. I agree on what he had to say about Open Text. I actually like to listen to Brian Madden interviews at BNN because I always find that he's interesting. And I mostly agree with him.

Brian Madden is chief investment officer at First Avenue Investment Counsel. It seems to be a firm that manage rich people money. The minimum amount to invest with them is not currently disclose on their web site, but I remember that the information was once in there at that time and it was something in the $300,000 or $350,000. I am not against the idea to have professionnals to manage my money, but it wouldn't be all of what I have, that's for sure, just a slice of it.

Parex Resources Inc. (PXT) is a stock pick of Brian Madden. I find it to be interesting and I am keeping the stock ticket on the side, just in case. I had spotted PXT back in 2019, but I never invested in it. Could I now invest even just a small amount in PXT? Maybe.

While experiencing a big tax refund for 2021, I know its still early on, but I am already thinking about my 2022 RRSP contribution. I know that I need to contribute at least $6,000-$7,000 in my RRSP to make it worth it. Its quite an amount. I was thinking to invest a $2,000 in Fondaction. Its a nice option for Quebeckers - which I am - for RRSP contribution, because the government offer an 30% until a certain amount. You can read it all here.

Surprise! I just closed the trading day - again - on my highest net worth value EVER: $357,075.04

I wasn't expecting it, but I closed the day on a very good $357,075.04 net worth with a total in assets of $403,792.28. I got the help of a big paycheque, and a little bit of help coming from the TSX, who closed today's session at a great 22,005.94 points. I didn't receive yet the close to $2,000 that I am expecting for my tax refund. I don't know if this will last still for very long, but for now, I am enjoying my strong numbers, and I published portfolio investment update after portfolio investment update as long as the numbers play in my favor - and oh yeah they do.

$101 172.99 (yes, finally, IN NET WORTH!).

On the date of February 16, 2011, the TMX hit the 14 000+ points, and I had exceeded the 150k in assets! (Not net worth yet).

On September 9, 2010, I reached $100,000 in assets! (not in net worth yet).

On the date of August 5, 2009, I reached my investment goal: I reached $50 000 worth of assets! (NOW, net worth).

On the date of December 5, 2009, I had exceeded the $60 000 in assets! (not in net worth yet).

Yesterday, I hit on my highest net worth EVER: $355,363.77!!!

Yesterday, three nice things happen to me. The first one: I again hit on my highest net worth ever, this time at a pretty good $355,363.77. For the first time ever, I had registered a total assets of $402,081.01, with a margin debt of $46,717.24. Interesting fact: I am now only missing $44,636.23 before hitting my first $400,000 net worth. The amount that I am missing before hitting that $400,000 net worth - $44,636.23 - is actually lower than the amount of my margin debt, $46,717.24.

Also yesterday, I received an email saying that my income tax for 2021 had been done and completed. And it was! I wans't expecting anything until the first week of April, since the confirmation email was saying it could take up to 5 weeks to have it completed. I check it up and everything seems in order so I sign it electronically. It will go its way to the federal and provincial. And the good news is, I am getting a tax refund exceeding $1,000. But that wasn't all.

The third good thing that happen to me yesterday is that since the Quebec provincial government had signed its last budget before the elections, the CAQ party decided to buy its electors by making a one-time $500 cheque for people with an income of $100,000 or less. Basically, I am among those 6.4 million individuals who will get the $500, which will be received under the form of a tax reduction. This means that my tax refund got closer to the $2,000. I am greateful, for once, I am getting a little tax break. However, spreading money over to citizens who don't really need it doesn't do anything constructive to Quebec society. It just really upset me and very sincerely, being a New Brunswicker is up to this date the greatest proud of my life. I don't even know how Quebeckers can deal with themselves.

Yesterday, I was screaming here and there around the house, proudly: I AM A QUEBECKER AND I AM GETTING 500 BUCKS, and you don't! The "you don't" refer to my old folks who are New Brunswickers... Let just say that we were laughing hard. They were pissed and told be to shut up! It was just so hilarious. And I just kept saying it from time to time out of the blue... LOL. Going all crazy for $500. That's me.

For now, I plan to just keep that money in my savings account. Once I go back to Montreal, around the end of May, I have a few medical appointments, with professional that I actually trsut despite that they are based in Quebec province. My insurance cover a big part, but I will have to pay from my pockets to a certain extense. Also, I would like to see my "cold cash" section of my investment portfolio - that being my savings - in the $10,000. Now that my net worth is slowly knowcking the door to the $400,000, its just kind of more normal to have at least $10,000 in savings.

Today, my net worth is a bit lower than $355,363.77. My non-registered portfolio closed today session at $147,069.99, my US porfolio at $4,962.69 US, my RRSP portfolio at $66,431.14, and my TFSA portfolio at $132,453,04.
